Not sure what they are doing to fusion 360 but I have been using it for over a year and a half and it just keeps progressively getting slower and slower and slower and more bog down and more laggy and way too many changes my subscription ends in November and I plan on using and learning sheetcam before then. Anyone else having similar issues?
I run it on two very worthy computers every time I click on something it just sits here and loads and loads and loads… Stupid dumb!
You’ll learn SheetCam within an hour… especially if you view the Arclight tutorials.
I haven’t ran into any issues like that with fusion since upgrading laptops. I’m on the fence as well about going with sheet cam just because fusion does have so much that’s not needed for what we do with a plasma. The only thing holding me back is all of my programs are saved in fusion, and idk if there is a way to move them to sheetcam
Wondering that also… anyone?
Well, SheetCam is not a design program, it’s just a CAM tool so 'moving ’ a design to it isn’t what you would do. Moving a design to another CAD tool would, on the surface, simply mean converting the design to a common format like DXF or SVG, but then, the question is, would you lose any important information in that process?
You can download all your files one at a time from f360 to your harddrive. From there you can do as you please.
Ah yeah, I forgot about the fact that files are stored in the cloud… Dang, no wonder it’s slow!
What is the best way to do this I can’t seem to figure out how to do all of them at once
Once you have your files loaded, you can click the work offline button in the upper right of f360. It will load faster next time and offline allows to save to computer instead of cloud. Good luck. Getting used to it myself…
I have a Crossfire Pro on order, so I haven’t played with it yet. But for my 3D printing I use “Design Spark Mechanical” for C.A.D. It’s 100% free Open Source (donations accepted), relatively easy and there is a fellow named Jim Taylor on youtube that give’s excellent tutorials. I enjoy using it. 3D printing is STL files, but Design Spark has an entire menu of file formats/ext. that you can export in. Plus, I like supporting the little guy’s. Hope that helps.
Have you tried a fresh install? That helps a lot of people. Especially those who have been using it for a long time through many updates.
Yeah I just did that yesterday haven’t used it yet hoping it makes a difference
I also use Designspark Mechanical, been using if for the past 6 years for 3D printing and for mechanical designs for my fab shop. I have no issues when exporting to .dxf and setting up the .tap file in sheetcam. I definitely recommend this program as an easy-to-use alternative to fusion360.
Plus like @deancolburn says it’s 100% free.
So you like this program. I use Fusion 360 but am always looking for others to use.
I just bought Sheetcam, But it is still not Sheet"CAD"
Still worth the money to get auto Nesting and Pause between cuts. But it still looks like it requires your CAD drawing to be imported from somewhere else.
But i do agree between my projects they seem to change Fusion enough that i am hunting for controls all the time. I have not noticed any slowdown, but Fusion is also loosing its gleam now that my rural internet is down during COVID and i have to run everything off cellular.
Definitely in the market now for a standalone CAD program off the cloud.
can you flip Fusion into offline mode?
