Fusion 360 has removed a valuable feature (umm, nevermind...I guess)

Welcome to the forum.

As it turned out, I did not lose that feature… Some sort of glitch. But your idea is worth considering. And, I have recently updated again and no loss (that I have discovered yet).

Thanks.

Are you using fusion for the plasma table? Have you thought about purchasing a software without all the bells and whistles that 360 has? The only thing I use fusion for is 3-4 axis milling in the machining center, for the plasma table and 2 1/2 axis work in the mill I use Bobcad v21. Just a thought.

Many of us use the free, non-commercial version of Fusion 360 to draw up things we cut with plasma cutter on the Langmuir CNC tables. CAD and CAM are free in that non-commercial version.

You’re not wrong though, in that even the free version has things some of us may never use for the 2-D things we make. The Sheetmetal function really makes simple 3-D easy.

Does Fusion provide more than is needed for plasma cuting? Absolutely. However, it also provides (some) 3d bending capabilities that are spot on for fabrication. Additionally, it provides a wonderful mock up environment to ensure parts align. (3D Assembly).

Are there “easier” solutions? Perhaps. I spent a year with AutoCAD and SheetCam prior to Fusion. And now that it’s dialed in, I don’t see a reason to go back. (Except for the full sheet nests in AutoCad. SheetCam makes them much easier to desl with.)

you know you can right click on the sketch and save it as a dxf, i have never used the save as drop down. i save everything from the sketch to my computer and fusion can save a copy too.

i have a paid but it works on the unpaid too. i know i used it for a long time that way.

Yes. It is working on my hobby version again as well. But if you see on my first screen grab on this topic it had the Subaru blue star ball next to “Save As.” As I mentioned later, I never clicked on it to confirm that it was locked out so who knows what was going on.

But, thanks. I know about the Save as DXF but wanted the timeline and everything with a particular sketch so the DXF would not have helped.
