Freecad Cam Files

Anyone using Freecad Cam (path) for g-code with success?

You’d have to create your own post processor to insert the necessary commands for Firecontrol.

I use FreeCad, but using the Path workbench would not be easier than using Sheetcam. Sheetcam is $140 well spent.

There is already a post processor written for firecontrol and also for the version for MR-1. As far as I can gather so far it doesn’t do anything to support lead ins & lead outs which is a deal killer for my needs. I’ve considered rolling my own by creating my own cut paths as offsets of existing geometry with the offset being defined in a spreadsheet then you can manually add additional line elements to the new geometry… seems like a lot of work so for know I’m biting the bullet and getting sheetcam but will continue to mess with it. The only thing I don’t like about sheetcam is that I use a mac as my primary computer and would like the option to do the cam work on my sit down computer where I have a keyboard and mouse… I think i’ll start trying to make freecad my primary design tool and it would be preferred if a single tool can be used for both. FreeCad is very programmable so writing a script to automate a lot of the cam work should be conceivably doable for plasma.

here is a link that discusses some of the firecontrol post processor: POSTPROCESSORS FOR LANGMUIR CROSSFIRE - M3 & FireControl - ATTN sliptonic - FreeCAD Forum
