FreeCAD anyone?

With all the hoopla recently concerning Fusion… Has anyone tried FreeCAD?

  1. I see you could export out of F360 as a .step file pretty quickly(no cloud/translation involved)…
  2. And then, import directly into FreeCAD…
  3. Save as you like.

It would take a little work to transfer things over but, seems pretty do-able…

Any experience with any of this??

I’ve messed around with Qcad - looks to be pretty good.

I’m using FreeCad and still learning from youtube little tricks, there are some great videos to learn from others. As far as using FreeCad to run my CF Pro, I have not tried it yet. I just got the machine assembled and tested movement yesterday. Hopefully I can give more insight to this soon. I’m trying to convert to FreeCad to run my 3D printer, my Hurco CNC mill and the CF Pro.

Learning to generate an accurate (with the correct scale factor) Flattened SVG is the trick (and using SheetCam, of course). I use SheetCam on my CF, CNC Router, and, used to use it on my laser, but not since I got LighBurn.
I have used FreeCad to make stl files for my Resin Printer and those have worked well, once I learned to tessellate to a finer resolution than the defaults.
