We adjusted the torch again and it seems to be staying down but now it will fire once and cut a small hole but it wont fire a second time.
Does it give an error on either FireControl or the plasma cutter?
What is that error? If no error code increase the sample size for THC. This will give time for the plasma cutter to throw an error. I am guessing pierce delay or air pressure. Before you say “it is not air pressure”, put a pressure gauge just before the cutter and monitor during the attempted cut.
Or better yet just watch the gauge on the front of the cutter
My Hypertherm has no pressure gauge on it.
If ones cutter has a gauge, that would be good to check!
Hello Hank! There are a few issues it could be, but I’d try lowering the cut height and trying to retest the cut. Most of the time when the torch fires once but not a second time, it is due to the cut height being set too high while using SmartV on the THC. Please let us know if this helps!
So I was having a similar issue while cutting on my machine. I just started cutting with the machine. This was my first cuts, it pierced then it would loose the beam as it went to finish cutting. It would ask to retry cut . I selected retry and generate from point. I hit ok and it would finish cutting the hole. It did this on all the geometry of the part. holes and perimeter.
@fattyschassis2008 Welcome to the Forum.
What air pressure to you run to your Plasma Cutter?
Which plasma cutter are you using?
Everlast?
Solenoid issues?
Sticky Torch plunger?
So there is the simulated switch in the THC box. I had that toggled on so all the THC was lit up red and green. I was running a different program. Same scenario it would pierce then loose arc.
I toggled that off and it started cutting fine.
Could you share a photo of the switch you are talking about? Glad you figured it out.
