I just noticed today that FC now allows me to load and Dry Run programs without an active connection to the LS controller. Is this recent or have I just not tried that for a long while? I noticed the feature this evening when I forgot to turn on the controller before loading a program.
Whether it’s new or I am just late to the party, thanks Langmuir for that improvement.
So you don’t have the USB cable connected? I know it might do it with the enclosure turned off but it would not get any feedback of the position of the torch.
The enclosure does not need to be powered on for Firecontrol to connect to the main board. The board is powered by the USB connection. Turning on the enclosure supplies power to drive the stepper motors.
Yeah, I should have been more clear. I had USB connected but enclosure not powered. If that’s normal, must have been when I switched from Dell laptop to Busy Bee mini PC that this became possible for me.
I just know in the past I had to have it powered up before Firecontrol would let me do anything.
