I’ve only had this issue one other time and I can’t recall the solution. I basically have a 1" x 12" square with one of the 12" sides has a 30 degree radius. No matter if I post with fusion360 or sheetcam, or if the dxf comes from adobe or fusion, when I load the gcode in firecontrol my radius turns into 2 straight lines. Any ideas?
Have you tried to cut it? The image in fire control is for reference only. Some times arc and circles look like straight lines. You can use a marker taped to the torch and do a dry run to see how it will turn out .
(I am only showing the lead-in but the same is true with both lead-in/lead-out)
The sweep angle only works as a curve if you have a dimension in the lead-in radius, like so:
This is what happens without the lead-in radius but with a lead-in distance:
Note: You don’t really need both the lead-in radius and the lead-in distance. You will get an adequate lead-in with an appropriate lead-in radius.
I haven’t tried to cut it. But since you asked now I am wondering myself, so I am going to try and cut it… Thinking maybe its just the way its rendering in the viewer in firecontrol?
Also I was on the new beta version, and reverted back to try that and same thing.
I never use the lead in radius, usually I set the angle to 20 degrees and lead in distance to .1, and i don’t lead out, i overcut by . In both fusion and sheetcam everything looks as it should, I can simulate as normal. And I have cut lots before and have cut since I posted, other designs… its just this one…
this is what I am seeing in firecontrol.
that is what I have in fusion, the correct shape
Well it cut fine, thanks for that. Maybe it just rendered odd in the viewer. Regardless it cut perfect.
I guess the visualizer didn’t get a lot of attention which it isn’t needed but it does look a little odd. Glad all is ok!
This website https://ncviewer.com/ is handy when you want a quick simulation of your file, outside of your cam software.
Phillip you came up with a great suggestion with the marker to verify the design. That would have certainly revealed that the FireControl image was corrupt.
@Kyle_AWM perhaps a re-install of FireControl. It sounds like it is not playing well with the video card.
Craig’s idea with the ncviewer would be another way to confirm the gcode.
The old version didn’t do this on either computer but when I traded up I had to update fire control. Big circles look really odd.
I am doing a long cut about a hour long I will try to remember to load a program and scree shot it.
