I am trying to export a part I have drawn in Fusion 360 as a DXF to send to a laser cutter to be done for me. I am having issues with scale and cant figure out what is going wrong. My part is 28.5 in x 9in and when i upload the DXF I saved from fusion my part come’s out as 21.907 in x 71.200 in. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or how to fix this? Any info is appreciated.
So you export the DXF then open it again and when you measure it and it comes out diferent in fusion again?
Did you set your document settings to inches? The DXF will output in what ever units your document settings are in.
Are you saving your DXF from a sketch, or are you using the export option? I never use the export option. I always create a sketch and project the geometry that I wand to save as a DXF in a new sketch. Then right click on the sketch in the tree, and select the option to save DXF.
What software are you importing the DXF into? It could be a issue with the other software.
I was trying to use just the export feature and it wouldn’t work at all. I than exported a DXF from the sketch and it seemed to work and it had the right dimensions. All units are set in inches, but the laser company still cannot upload the DXF into their software. So I am not sure where to go from here.
I did the same thing today…exported out of fusion because it wouldnt create a tool path and uploaded to sheetcam and it was too big…I opened that dxf up in inkscape and resized it back down.I saved as a dxf and loaded it up to sheetcam and it was the correct size.
