I was referring to my owners manual and it shows extended tips in the tip choices but i don’t know when you use them. Can someone tell me when and why they are needed? I have only the hand torch at the moment. Not sure if I’ll buy the machine torch in the future.

I personally only use extended tips when I am freehand cutting. They make viewing cut lines and cut progress so much easier. They are more expensive hence not using them all the time. On my table I can see the nozzle good enough at the setup I don’t bother with the extra expense of extended length consumables. If you do get them be aware you have to get both nozzles and electrodes. Short and long consumables won’t mix.
