You’re a bot with a sense of humor.
HF dryer-user here - it’s doubled my pierce count since I purchased it.
Do you use it by itself or in conjunction with other things?
Naturally.
The air dryer does have a separator, but the most important role is to cool the air temps so that water vapor condenses to liquid.
I run additional filtering after my air dryer to capture it all.
It’s obvious and not Icelandic…
Lol. I know, it’s just such an odd choice for a forum name for so many reasons, with you and Jim commenting on it I figured I’d tear the bandaid off and ask him.
Think of a Cat…
…sliding across a keyboard.
Maybe we need to dial down TARS’ humor to 75%
So I acquired this large radiator/condenser from a large DC to AC converter at a battery farm. I already have a copper coil setup but figured more is better would you guys recommend putting it before or after the copper?
Thanks in advance
Before or after?: Since they both do the similar function, I doubt that it would matter. Are you going to have a fan on that radiator because those fins are pretty close together. Once they get warm they are basically limiting the radiating of heat away from the neighbor fins if air is not circulating.
Perhaps it has a fan that I just can’t see. In either case, make it easy on yourself and the installation.
Keep in mind that more connections will cause more restrictions with airflow. But I am the pot talking to the kettle because I don’t even want to admit how many connections my system has!
If you have any local HVAC companies I would look for the Trane or the American standard heat pump or air conditioning condensers with the spline coil. These coils easily manifold together and have great air flow characteristics. Great heat exchangers for this application.
This is just a stock photo to show it without the sheet metal casing.
I used one for my air drying setup. I’ll see if I can find some pictures and post it
Interesting, We have a very small condenser and upgraded to mini splits. I am going to have to take a look at what I can do with the condenser.
So I would evacuate the freon and flare the condenser so that I can hook up the air compressor fittings?
Line size will be important
Line size of the condenser?
Yes I would think you would want it at least as big as what’s on the compressor
Yes all the refrigerant should be recovered.
the only pieces you will want to use is the casing , condensing coil, fan assembly.
Once you isolate the condensing coil you can use the discharge inlet and outlet manifold to connect the air circuit. these opening should be large enough.
This is an exciting prospect. I’m always interesting in repurposing things and learning new stuff. Oh… The Fan… Well that’s what failed on our AC was the fan… Also I would like to keep my air cooler as a passive system not requiring power. Probably going to work with the cooper set up. Greatly appreciate everyone’s input and feedback
