So I have always used Rhino software and currently using Rhino 4.0… (very old, I know)
Anyways, I believe there is a problem with the software converting it into sheetcam. I ran through some testing and the machine is not binding and I can run others files correctly.
I problem I am running into is that circles are becoming little square or different radius in the diagonal corners.
Has anyone used Rhino with the langmuir? I am not sure if it is because I am using a very old version.
What does everyone else use for cad for plasma cutting?
You can do that with Inkscape, but I’m not sure what you want to do IN the program. If it’s artwork type signs or something, Inkscape is simple enough and lots of tutorials. Imports DXF, but I’d output in SVG if going to SheetCam. If you want more 2D CAD type of application, FreeCad or QCad might work for you, but I personally lean toward Affinity Designer. It’s low cost and is a good bridge between CAD and Artwork.
I have used Rhino but not with the Crossfire. I think 4 saves DXFs in the old 2000-2003 DXF format. That’s a very compatible version for cross-application use but lousy for getting good curves. I don’t remember if R4 allowed for SVG export/saved but if it did, try switching to that and using the SVG in Sheetcam.
As @TomWS mentioned, I’m living between 2 houses so my laptop I use for this is somewhere in my new NC workshop & I’m in CT for the next couple of weeks so I can’t check the software.
Thanks for the response. Good luck with the move and I understand how you feel… I am in the 9th place currently and not talking about just moving an apartment but states and or country move.
Anyways, I had a hail marry last night before I almost gave up… However I noticed that part of a circle on my file printed correctly and others didn’t… I then did a test of creating circles in rhino using just the circle button and realized that when i originally created the file I used the circle offset or offset feature and that is what created the oblong or in accurate circles…
R4 does not save svg…
Thanks for the responses and I gaurantee that this wont be the last problem with the cnc… thanks for all the input…
