Dialing In the CrossFire XR 4x8 – Mods, Tools & Custom Fabrication Wins

Hey everyone,

I’ve been running the CrossFire XR 4x8 for a while now, and I’m finally past the honeymoon phase and deep into personalizing it. Wanted to kick off a thread to see what others are doing to dial in their setup—especially if you’ve incorporated custom fabrication work (plastic or metal).

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

  • Built custom splash shields using thermoformed plastic – way easier to clean, and they hold up better than expected.
  • 3D printed some cable routing brackets and torch holders using PETG and ABS.
  • Designed a plastic enclosure for my electronics – custom cut, heat bent, and mounted to keep debris out.
  • Still working on optimizing water table drainage—open to creative fixes.

If you’ve done any custom plastic fabrication—cutting, forming, printing, etc.—I’d love to hear what’s worked for you. I know a lot of us end up making our own solutions when off-the-shelf just doesn’t cut it.

Welcome to the forum!

Please share some photos of your additions to the table. Love to see it.

(You might need to post a few more times before the option to share photos is allowed.)

Its not plastic but im sure you could design something to 3D print that would be better, but i made a simple tray for our consumables out of stainless sheet metal.

I put in flush fit drains in all 4 sections of the water pan. I plumbed it all together and put a ball valve on it to drain. I have 2 40 gallon hydroponic reservoirs plumbed together to hold my water when I’m not using my table and I am gonna put some filtration in there. I’m also gonna put a farm stock heater or an aquarium heater in there during the winter to prevent freezing. I have a pond pump to return the water to the top of my table and I bought an auto top off system for aquariums that I plan on attaching to my pump and a smart plug to turn it on and off from my phone so I can start filling my table before I go out to my garage. I also removed the stiff arm for the computer screen and added an adjustable wall mount arm.
