Defective part not happy

Well after the long wait for my Cnc. Table and water table it finally arrived. So here I go watching videos and starting to put it together. I get to the step where you install lead acre nuts etc. I take everything out of package as it shows you in the video and when I dump out package I notice a piece of plastic. So I inspect everything in package and notice that one of the lead screw nuts is broken. I contact Langmuir about the part they says they will send out the replacement part right away. Well a day later they do Send it out but have sent it small parcel post to Canada. So I have to wait 3 weeks more to get a part that should have been sent rush not The slowest mail
Possible.

Why are you so unhappy? The people at langmuir are doing everything they can as fast as they can. I’m sure the piece wasnt damaged when if left their facility… be mad at the delivery service or the package handlers…

Why not happy. 3 week mailing service. The part should have been sent ups 2-3 day service not 3 week delivery service. The parts come inside a box that is packaged separate from the metal
Parts so yes the part 99% was broken prior to leaveing their facility

Hi, I am sorry to hear that the lead nut came damaged. I am glad to hear that our team responded with reasonable speed and got the replacement sent out quickly. Unfortunately, until we get distribution set up in Canada, we don’t have much choice except to ship using the most economical means available. While warranty claims are fairly low, they do happen given the complexity of the machine. Shipping replacement items via overnight air to our international customers would be cost prohibitive to the point that we would not be able to offer the CrossFire for sale internationally. We have found shipping small packet takes about 6 days on average to Canada.

Unfortunately I can’t say with 100% certainty whether the lead nut tangs were broken prior to being placed in the box. What i do know for certain is that all lead nuts are 100% QC checked in our factory by installing them on a thread gage and checking for proper function and would like to believe the responsible employee would not have made that mistake. What I also know is that UPS quite literally throws these machines out of their trucks onto the asphalt. I know this because UPS has told us that’s how they unload them. Perhaps we can do a better job at protecting the lead nuts in the box, but the frequency of occurence has been so low that it’s not been prioritized. I’ll look into how we can improve that moving forward.

In the mean time, I encourage you to continue with assembly of your machine, except install the broken lead nut without the compression collar and spring. I believe that you will find that the performance of the lead nut will not be negatively impacted when used temporarily until the replacement arrives.

Once again I am really sorry. It is a lot of money to spend and a long time to wait. Please let us know if you need anything further.

You know that shipping USPS priority to Canada is usually a minimal of $20-25? And then it’s 6-10 days but not guaranteed?
And you realize that it was probably damaged in shipping and not their fault?
Does it suck…yep…but you waited a long time whats a little longer? Take that time to get comfortable with software and planning out projects. Also look on amazon or Ebay for a spare or backup one that may arrive faster in case you need it

Paul you have no clue it wasn’t damaged in shipping the interior box the parts came in was in perfect condition not a dent or ding in it. And if I installed it and it broke or it was warranty from being used and broken due to being defective that would be acceptable. But to have a part that was sent defective due to bad QC on the item is unacceptable and Langmuir should eat the cost that’s customer service for a error in their part. I have order many machine and stuff from USA and had items that where defective and that is the service supplied due to them sending bad QC items. I had a cnc but from Toolstoday sent to me at Christmas. I sent them a picture of the brand new unused bit they reviewed the photo and sent me out a new bit. USPS priority that same day due to the QC error. It was thier error and they realized it and fixed it right away.

Daniel. Thanks for the long reply I will continue with the install. And see if the broken lead screw but will work temp until the replacement arrives what pitch and size is the lead screw I think I will buy some metal lead screw nuts with anti backlash to replace the plastic ones .

The lead screws are 3/8-8 4 start ACME. You may have a source for that pitch, but it is relatively rare.

Someone who was extending the size of their table posted a list of parts & sources including the lead screw nuts. It’s worth a search (I’m running to a meeting so can’t look right now or I’d do it for you as having a couple spares might be handy).
