Cut60 machine torch wires

Hello everyone. I have the primeweld cut60 with the PTM60 machine torch. I was changing out the electrode and I guess it seized up and it broke off in the torch. I drilled it out and tapped it to clean out the threads but while I had it apart there are 2 wires that are not connected to anything and they go to two little pins that spring in and out. I have searched the web and everywhere else for the last few weeks but haven’t found anything about these. Does anyone know what they are for and why they are not connected to any thing? I was thinking they might be for something that could be wired in I just have no idea what they are for.

I have also been looking for these type of pins in case this wires could be used for something. I found some that look like them but don’t think they are the correct ones. Does anyone know what these pins are called?

Those wires are not used. If you had a trigger switch, they would be connected to it. Only two wires should be connected to the pilot arc. This is to the best of my knowledge.

The tiny pins connected to the blue wires are the “parts in place” pins. They would prevent the torch from firing without the cap screwed onto the torch. I’m guessing that Primeweld doesn’t have that safety feature, so they are just left disconnected.

You will need to replace the torch head. In most cases you have already damaged the inner electrode plunger. And as said those blue wires are not used on a Primeweld as the plasma cutter has no safety or parts in place electronics.

Any way I carry everything you would need to repair your torch.

Just buy the UPM-105 torch.

Agreed. Never screw in another electrode again.

Thanks everyone for replying. The torch still works fine. I’ve been cutting everything from 16 ga steel to the Mac I’ve cut on the table had been 3/8 when I built the revolution 2x72 belt grinder. It cut all the parts very good but I did have to recut the Dplate cause the holes and the slots were slanted so bad but I slowed the cut speed to 12ipm and I did feed optimization to slow it down to 8ipm when doing the slots and holes and they came out perfect the 2nd time. But I’m on the waiting list for the UPM 45 torch from Primeweld. As soon as it’s in stock again in getting it! I wish I saw that torch before I bought the PTM60 I would’ve jumped on it back then.

You’re not getting a better torch than you have. Actually your giving up a lot of consumable choices. Your also limited to 30 amp,45 amp and 70 amp consumables. And don’t believe the old Hypertherm consumables work as most times they don’t in these Chinese copy torch’s. But that’s your money to spend the way you want.

What do I need to fix my torch? I took it all apart and put it back together even bought the compression clamps for the hoses. It seems to be working fine sometimes it does mess up a cut and I feel like the height control hasn’t been the same since I drilled and tapped the electrode out. I’ll buy replacement parts to fix it the correct way. Also I bought some .6 tips from primeweld and haven’t gotten them to cut at all. It’s like it’s under powered and I’ve adjusted the amps as it was cutting from 20 amps on up and air pressure from 50 psi on up and it still doesn’t want to cut through 20 gauge steel is it because I drilled out the electrode?

You are going to need a new PTM60 torch head.

I will PM you with more info.
