My cut60 hand torch took a crap, so I had to “upgrade” to a ptm-60 torch that I bought off eBay, it’s probably Chinese knockoff but it’s new. Everything is sold out that I could find.
I’m running at 75psi, 2T, good ground even cleaned my ground clamp, new consumables, cup is not too tight, I have the mount flipped so as to hold the torch higher up which also is snug, not to loose or too tight. The pin setup is the same.
I cannot get it to manually fire through fire control. I can hear the relay click inside the control box. If I run a test cut, it will only fire if I lift the piece up to touch the torch tip.
I’ve checked the forums, searched here and followed all of the suggestions I could. It seems like it will only work if the torch is in direct contact with the material. Any other suggestions would be appreciated, I’m leaning toward it’s a shitty knockoff torch otherwise I’m at a loss. Cross posted on the facebook page.
Machine torch should only have 2 pins 1 and 9 pilot arc. Flow air pressure should be set at 65 to 70 psi. as machine torch’s need more air then hand torch’s do to fire.
Like I said pins 1 and 9 are the pilot arc wires. There should not be any other pins on a machine torch for a Primeweld cut 60. With a ohm meter they should show a reading to the cutting tip. If not then the torch is wired wrong. If they do show a reading then are all the consumables electrode, swirl ring, cutting tip and retaining cup on the torch. If so then find a good used electrode and cutting tip and install them on the torch, does the torch fire? If so then the electrode most likely is bad.
Note: a lot of these aftermarket so called PTM 60 torch’s have the wrong consumables on them.
There’s a reading at the tip, I have brand new consumables in it, I have tried it with just pins 1 and 9 only and also with the other pins setup as the hand torch was setup. It will only fire if the tip is on the material.
