how do you get the now red torch head back to green

Sounds like an out of limits issue but and you elaborate on your situation .

while doing the initial homing the torch head hit the hard stop before triggering the limit switch. the torch head is now flashing red, so im trying to figure out how to clear the alarm.

I had to bend the little stopping tab on the x-axis out a bit so it would trigger the limit switch properly.

You could turn off the machine and and manually move it back within limits.
