Ok long story short I purchased the cross fire a couple years ago and due to work I didn’t have time to get to it. I also put the XL kit on it. So now I’m looking for information on computer requirements and then the suggested software . Thanks Cory
welcome to the forum…we are here to help and to make fun of me…ahahaha
so you have the 2x2 table
you bought the XL kit…
so most likely you are still going to use MACH3…can you post a picture of the back of the electronics closure please…where everything plugs in…it will confirm which software to use…
then you will need to find a design software CAD program…there are many out there…then you need to decide on the CAM software…
Fusion360 is free and does both CAD and CAM (conversion from drawing to gcode)but can be confusing for some people…but there is a lot of help out on you tube and here
then if you go with any other design software then you will need to purchase sheetcam for the processing the design into g-code
if you go to the main Langmuir webpage there is a tab called “support”
under that tab is a section called “crossfire user guides”…read al of that…it will help you a lot.
yes…that is the OG machine…it runs on MACH3
so just about any computer will run MACH3…but you will need to purchase the program.
like I said before…now you need to decide on the CAD/CAM software…
I bought the cheapest new laptop I could on amazon. HP 14 Laptop, AMD 3020e. It was $240. Could probably find something used. It’ll run the table just fine, no glitches. But to run Fusion 360 (a CAD/CAM) software something more powerful is needed. I don’t know the specs, you could check the Autodesk website. The program is free with some limits that are easily worked around. My cheap laptop will slowly load Fusion, but it’s painfully slow to try to use it. I do that work on my MacBook Air and it runs great and transfer with a thumb drive. If you already have a computer try downloading Fusion and see if it will run OK. If it does you an do CAN/CAM on that and get a cheap computer for the table.
Enjoy!
