Crossfire PRO THC Stopped working (SOLVED)

So, all of a sudden after 1.5 years of hobby use my Crossfire Pro THC stopped working. Thought maybe some corrosion buildup in z axes so 3 hrs. of disassembly and carful cleaning including securing / cleaning all connections than re assembly. No go. I reset the machine. Parts I’ve
cut without any problems in the past do not cut. Torch fires 1 inch above sheet, travels a bit than goes out. I did not change any connections from previous successful operation.
1.Grounded to cleaned sheet.
2.Two different clean ground cables.
3.Two different laptops.
4. Complete disassembly/ clean z axes
5. Dedicated HTP DV 45 machines always works
6. Cut settings never changed from working settings
I’m going to request z axes rebuild kit ad see it that works.
Maybe reseat the THC board, until than I’m dead in the water except straight cuts without
THC

The issue you described doesn’t sound like the THC .

Did you by any chance try lowering the torch bracket? If the torch is to high the IHS switch will trip prematurely.

I will try that and get back to you.

Manually move your z axis at slow speed and watch fire control for the IHS light to come on. My rule of thumb is to do that then move the torch just below the top of slates.

Post a video. I’m pretty sure this has happened to other people in the past few months and a setting had defaulted back to something somehow if I remember right. But if it’s just firing initially too high, it’s not THC related. It’s IHS related potentially. Video and g-code will help.

Lead screw on your Z axis could have a lot of gunk

Did you cycle it up and down?

I say this because it doesn’t sound like it’s THC at all but instead IHS/z-axis travel

I often run a toothbrush to clean out my lead screw and it prevents odd movements and/or binding that can occur

So I lowered the machine torch holder and was able to get it to fire. I was able to cut without the THC I guess I have to find the sweet spot for the torch holder. I must have reassembled it too high after cleaning. I will try a few cuts and see if it is resolved. I will post results.

Best way to set it is to lower the z axis until the IHS light comes on.

Then loosen the torch and drop it till it is about a 1/4 below the top of the slats.

I performed your suggestion of adjusting THC and torch height. cutting seems too be working fine. I also replaced the THC leads with quality connectors with heat shrink coating. Mine looked OK but wanted to rule that out. I believe with your suggestion and a thorough cleaning it solved my issue.
Cant thank you enough.
