Crossfire pro stopping shortly into project and wont continue

When i start a project it will just stop at a randon pierce and not start back up ruining the piece

need more info than that.

so the torch lights, starts to cut then stops at a certain spot with the torch still on?

Does firecontrol go grey when this happens?

most likely your getting electrical interference from the cutter or a ground loop.

Looks like you are new to the forums. I sere you are using a Crossfire pro.

How long have you been using your plasma cutter? Is this your first plasma cutter? What plasma cutter are you using? What type of file are you cutting (post the file if it’s not a private file). How many projects have you cut? What is the thickness of the material you are cutting? Is your grounding cable attached directly to the metal being cut or attached to a slat? (Directly to the metal is best and most reliable). Have you tried to cut anything else?

its used, but i have had it for about a month. i have completed about 15 good projects out of 20, and being new to cnc plasma i only use the cut ready files off fireshare the files are either tap or Nc that work. sometimes it works on the first try sometimes the second, no third try. i make sure speed, amp, torch height is good for my material 14 gauge mild steel, I have THC and the torch height travel set at one inch to miss tip ups, and a brand new accaptain 55 pro plasma cutter, what the wierd part is on the same design it will do it at different spot on second try.

it will start the project make a couple cuts lift up and move to next cut but never lower or fire for the cut and goes into error torch did not reach cutting surface in time but never fires.

that might indicate that the Z axis isn’t functioning correctly. Either it’s not lowering due to debris on rails/lead screw or coupler screws are tight enough and motor shaft is slipping.

run the z axis up and down a few times via the arrow keys and look/listen for binding in the movement.

Post a pic of how you have the Z axis, torch set up.

i will check the function of the z asis and clean, tighten and lube. my torch is a handheld in a languir clamp holder

i think i figured it out the cable going to the trigger of the plasma cutter is faulty if you wiggle it the torch fires and the air stays on and you have to unplug the cord to get the air to stop, take power away, or its the connection in the box, not sure. i have reached out to langmuir support about getting a new cord and module for the connection to see if that will fix the issue.

Is the plasma cutter the accaptain 55 pro plasma cutter or the arccaptain 55 non-HF?

its the pro.

The pro can not be used on the Langmuir tables. It is a high frequency plasma cutter. You need to get a non-HF plasma cutter to work on the table.

well that’s strange, When wired correctly. It has been doing just fine till the relay for the trigger control decided to go bad in the langmuir control box. that’s what caused the issue it was going out.

The plasma cutter utilizes a high-frequency start, which can cause significant issues with the control board of the control box. It’s comparable to someone with a pacemaker being near welding equipment; the control circuit becomes inundated with electromagnetic interference (EMI) during the torch’s operation. The assembly instructions clearly state that high-frequency plasma cutters are not compatible with this equipment. There was a list of compatible machines, but the market has since been flooded with inexpensive Chinese cutters that often do not specify whether they are high-frequency start machines unless you examine their specifications closely. While it may work for you initially, it could lead to problems in the long run. I understand this may not be the information you were hoping for.
