Consumables blowing out one side

Hypertherm 30xp purchased this unit 2 mths ago used. The electrode is blowing out of one side. Amps are correct, air pressure is correct. Not sure what to do now. Consumables in pic are new. Less than 5 mins. of cut time.

Any ideas of how to fix tbis issue

@ggaines Welcome to The Forum.

I’ll assume that you have the correct consumables stack , installed correctly.

Do you have some kind of contaminants in your Airstream?

Water or oil or particulates?

How are you conditioning the air before it reaches your plasma cutter?

Deleted by me. wrong thought process’

Welcome,

Those are pilot arc arc’s. As @TinWhisperer said are they the right consumables. It looks like something is misaligned, could be a bad or wrong swirl ring, or the swirl ring is installed backward.

Post pictures of exactly what you’re putting in the torch, and where you have purchased them from.

I’m going to guess those aren’t hypertherm branded consumables. They look off to me.

Edit* I didn’t realize the 30xp electrodes had the flatter head on them. Still, the source is important.

Is the torch hear perpendicular to the material? at a good 90 degrees to the surgace, not leaning in any direction? Proper height awaw from material for start up arc?

This is the listing of the consumable stacks for the two different Hypertherm 30 Air/XP. (Note: there are more variations of consumables for the 30 XP).

And this is the more likely scenario:

Here is the Hypertherm 30XP for drag cutting. They are not showing a shield for use on the CNC table with IHS.

Edit: I would guess that if one was using the 30 XP for standard cutting, they would need to use the shield listed in the “fine cutting stack.” So it would be the “fine cutting” stack with a standard nozzle substituted.

No you would use the older Powermax 45 CNC shield or the unshielded deflector.

Good to know. Thanks George!
Just to be clear, this is the shield you mean @mechanic416:

All consumables are hypertherm. Installed anothe moister separator and dessicated cups. Still having the same problem.

Has this torch been dropped, any physical damage?

Perhaps something is out of alignment. Do you have another torch you could try or borrow?

One moisture trap is not sufficient. Two moisture traps are not sufficient.

Moisture trap, 40 ft of half inch copper line coil up inside a refrigerator at 35°, drip leg, two desiccant traps, and finally a motor guard filter at the plasma cutter is sufficient

Bad cutting height will also trash consumables in short order, like 5-8 seconds.

I have installed 2 moisture traps and 2 dessicant traps. It appears to be a moisture issue.
