Why is the torch control cable so short and do I need to connect it when using the Razorweld Cut45 with CNC connections?
Let’s make sure you are connecting the cables in the right place. The torch on/off cable goes from the torch on/off port on the front of the plasma cutter to the torch on/off port on the electronics enclosure attached to the table leg. It should be long enough to place the cutter on a nearby cart or shelf. This cable is always necessary, because it is what sends the signal to fire the torch.
If you have the THC, there is a short cable that goes from the divided voltage port on the front of the plasma cutter to the DIV input on the VIM(black plastic box). That is intended to be attached to the side of the plasma cutter with the provided velcro strips. Then a cable goes from the DIV output to the THC port on the electronics enclosure.
I have a torch on/off cable with a male 2 pin end on it that is about 5ft long and one that has a female 2 pin end that is about 20" long. So regardless of whether you are hard wiring the plasma cutter or using the CNC version from Langmuir it still requires the black plastic box?
Yes. The black box feeds the divided voltage to the Torch Height Control. This assumes that you have the THC option. The short cable goes from the divided voltage port to the black plastic box DIV input. You should have another cord that plugs into the DIV output port on that plastic box and the other end goes into the THC port on the electronics enclosure.
If you don’t have the THC, you only need the longer wire from the Torch on/off port on the plasma cutter to the Torch on/off port on the electronics enclosure. In either case, this wire is necessary to be able to fire the torch.
This might be easier if you just post a picture of the cables that you have.
The cables to connect the THC to the plasma cutter through the black box are connected, both of those have barrel jack connections on the end to go in the black plastic box. The only cable I have left is a 20" cable with 2 pin connections on each end, one male for the enclosure and one female for the plasma cutter. The Torch On/Off connection on my electronics enclosure is a barrel jack connection.
The torch on/off should have a 2 pin male connector on one end and a barrel connector on the other end. The THC connector from the VIM should be s barrel connector on the VIM side and a 2 pin female connector on the electronics enclosure side.
Is there an extra cable with a barrel connector on one end and no connector on the other end? Sometimes the Razorweld comes with aviation connectors that you have to attach to the cable.
I do have a cable with barrel jack on one end and two blade connectors on the other end. I have two 2 pin female connectors that have no cables on them. So I need to cut the wires on the cable with the blade connectors and solder them on to the 2 pin female connectors?
Does it matter which side the red and black wires are attached in relation to the alignment slot? I just used the cable with the spade type connections and soldered the aviator connection to it. I’m sure it was a spare. Thanks for your help, I got this for Christmas and still don’t have it running yet. Lots of frustration but I think I’m in the home stretch.
The polarity doesn’t matter for the torch firing cable.
Thank you.
