Computers not seeing the controller

Is there anyone that I can talk to about none of my computers seeing the controller? I am a little late, but I just unboxed my cross fire yesterday, after it has been sitting in its box that it was shipped in since 2018. I have tried 4 different usb cables, and 3 different computers with different OS. They all appear to be loading the mach 3 software. But in the video it shows that right before “you are able to cut” a window will pop up and ask what kind of controller it is. None of the computers I am using gets this notification . I am not able to jog or control the cross fire in anyway. There is no physical light on the USB to even see if it is working or not. So I can’t see if it is green or not, cause there is no light on the machine. all computers acknowledge the USB connection with the sound of connected or disconnected. I also cannot see if it is connected in the control panel. They just say generic USB.

I am able to now move the numbers within Mach 3 using the arrow keys when Jogging. I have the cover off the controller, and I am able to see the LED on the USB board. When keys are pressed the light on the board lights up, so I feel like it is working properly now. How ever the motors are not turning. With power on the controller the carriage will not move, when power is off, the carriage moves freely. So I believe that they are hooked up and getting power. Any help?

Welcome to the forum!

For a Mach3 system to operate, you need to add two files to your system. The first is the device driver for the controller board - this provides the USB interface and, if it is installed, the generic Mach3 application will find it and, indeed, provide support for it’s buttons and readouts. However, it won’t control the CrossFire system until you add the second file. That is the configuration profile that configures the Mach3 application to properly step the motors.

There are two steps to adding this file (besides downloading it, of course). The first step is copying the file to the Mach3 subdirectory. The second step is choosing that file when you first start Mach3.

Have you done this?
