ClubCar Golfcart DS Predator Swap

Seeing if anyone on the forum has performed a Predator engine swap (420cc, 459cc, or 670cc) in a 90’s ClubCar golfcart? After my stepdaughter went to a STEAM camp, she’s showed some interest in the subject. In an effort to fan that flame, I’d like to make the restoration a family project. The original motor is a boat anchor and rather buying new OEM, i’d rather go aftermarket. Any tip, tricks, or opinions would be much appreciated.

I believe Craig @holla2040 used a Predator engine on a log splitter he made. I could not find the topic but he is a very clever guy and might weigh in on your project.

…And, like you, he likes to mentor young minds in such things.

Sorry, not me. Is it electric now?

I don’t know how similar they are to the Yamaha golf carts, but I have cut files that I made to swap a 420 into a Yamaha G2. They are based on the Vegas carts motor mounting plates design.

We’ve began working on the Club Car around the middle of September and made some head way. We blew the car apart and began with a pressure wash and then the installation of a 6" lift. Use the CF Pro and burn out a motor mount for the Predator 459. See pics attached and let me know your thoughts. Also, any advice from those whom have worked on a Club Car in the past is much appreciated.

I installed the predator V- twin 22 hp in my 1992 clubcar. worked out great ,45 mph is scary for lifted stock steering though… But what a blast. I’ll see if I can find some pics

Well, with Helmet, Roll Bar, and seat belts, I’m sure it will be fine…

I know it is not in this category of speed but my son-in-law souped up an electric Yamaha golf cart. Not sure what the top speed with the lead-acid batteries but it now has an $1900 Li-ion battery and a 600 amp controller that will allow a top speed of 25 mph. It is scary fast for a golf cart as it goes from 0 to 25 in 30 feet if that is your desire.
