Cant unfold in fusion

Ok So my 3d skills are pretty much none existent, But I tried to make this part. I am sure my work flow was all wrong and now I can refold my unfolded part.

Feel free to take a look
Latch 1 v1.f3d (88.6 KB)
I need to move the square hole so that it is .172 off the edge its closest to and fold it back up.

The refold didn’t apply to your timeline for some reason.

Trying scrolling back to forward in the timeline and see if the refold automatically populates

Also sheet metal does not like multiply material thickness applied to one piece . fix the last extrude in your timeline by making it the same depth as the existing body.

I repaired the timeline in this F3D

Latch 1 v1 tin mod v1.f3d (95.4 KB)

but I did not make this modification

I did not realize I had made two different thickness’s

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I will go back and try and correct it.

I moved the hole now that Tin modified. I got lost on my own.

Ok so now I have got to the stage of cutting this. I have no lead out selected but simualtion shows a lead out.

I also have a hole that I cant get to cut unless I just about remove the lead in. The hole is like .348 x .348

What am I missing?

Your good! All I did was to pick a “preferred lead-in”

Fusion is stubborn that way. Don’t know why it didn’t want it. Maybe Tin can explain.

Did you get the lead out in simulation?

Yep. It is happy.

Edit:
My mistake. You don’t have a lead-out. You will see below that you have a finishing overlap that is the cause for the toolpath to continue past the end of the cut. I would suggest reducing that from 0.1 inches to something like 0.01 or 0.02 inches.

This is part of why I struggle with fusion, stupid stuff like this. It seems like its always some stupid little thing. Maybe I just need to admit I’m not smart enough to know all the little glitches

So did the lead out show up for you in simulation? Maybe I just needed to close the file and reopen it.
thanks again

Yes. You might need to load the file I sent back.

Lead-in

As for the simulation, you have a pretty good indication everything is right because three things changed once the contour was “approved.”

But I think he didn’t want the lead out.

See this:

That isn’t a lead-out. No lead-out was selected in the tool path. He inserted a finishing overlap.

If I added the lead-out and changed the finshing overlap to .01 inch, this is what we would get.

0.01 finishing overlap without the lead-out

Here is the file with the finishing overlap reduced to 0.01 inches.

Jim, you were right to question me. I miss things when I read the posts.

your right I did not, and I did not have a lead out selected in the profile, But it showed a lead out in the simulation. If you look at the screen shot it shows a lead out when it was not selected.

That was showing the finishing overlap of 0.1 inches. Here is what that looks like:

Here I changed the finishing overlap to 0.01 inches:

Here is what I was taking about, this shows a lead out but there was no lead out selected

It also looks like you have a pierce clearance in that tool path. Perhaps remove the Pierce clearance. I tried to simulate what you are seeing but even if I add the pierce clearance, that is not showing like you have.

Turn on visibility of the tool path:

Can you share the settings screen for the simulation?

I simply don’t have that leg showing up in my simulation.

I wold have to go back and look. I am wondering if there was a lead out when I originaly set it up and than I saw it and removed it and then it still showed up in the simulation on my end, but maybe
when I saved it and sent to you it cleared it self out.

Maybe a ghost thing.
