Brand new to the CNC World ordered my machine should be here in March

I have a question for you guys, I am in a dilemma. I have a spectrum 625 and I’ve been told that it could be attached to the plasma table. But I don’t really want to make it a stand-alone plasma table plasma cutter only because of its portability. I also have a cutmaster 42 that I just bought a brand new torch for. A handheld torch. And they want like $600 for a machine torch and two hundred and something for some kind of pendant that controls it supposedly. I have the cash right now to buy a hypertherm 65 I think that’s what it’s called XP 65 something like that. I would like to use this plasma table to cut like some half inch every once in awhile but mainly 3/16 3/8 i and 1/4 and smaller. So here’s my dilemma do I buy a brand-new hypertherm 65 or whatever the things called. With a machine torch for $3,032. Or do I spend almost $1,000 on a plasma cutter that I think only does like 3/8 plate. I don’t want a hand torch. I just like the machine toward from what I understood about the plasma tables and making them a lot easier to you? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Even negative berating, I’m brand new to this so I know I just sound like an idiot up above. I just don’t know for sure that I’ll need that hypertherm 65. It would be nice to have but I don’t know if this plasma table works well with a cutmaster 42 or not?

I have a hypertherm powermax 65 that I bought several years ago and just got going with the table (which took about 3 months to ship btw). With the CPC port and machine torch it was plug & play with the torch height control, it all worked right out of the box.

I’ve read some folks here caution that 65amp is pushing it for the depth of the water. I haven’t tried anything at 65amps yet so I can’t say for certain. Tho I did watch a video of a guy using an 85 amp hypertherm cut 1" thick on a crossfire table.

When I bought the 65 I wanted to cut similar thickness as you with the occasional 3/4 and it has performed well with the hand torch for that purpose. My previous plasma cutter was a lincoln pro cut 55, and I can say that the hypertherm beats it hands down in every way. Consumables last Way longer, several times longer, and the 65 amp will do 3/4" no worries where that 55 would just barely sever 3/4 (no piercing and ugly cut). The 65 is rated to sever 1 1/4" if I recall, tho I’ve never tried anything that thick. The 65 should CNC cut 1/2" all day.

I have the Spectrum 875 that it originally came with the hand torch because at the time I was not interested in CNC. Since then I came across Langmuir Systems and got very interesting so I purchased the original CrossFire. It became so much fun and interesting that in the 1st batch I purchased the CrossFire Pro. Since then I went to my plasma supplier and purchased the machine torch (and machine torch holder from Langmuir Systems) for my Spectrum 875 so that I can dedicate that torch to the table and use the hand torch for freehand with portability if needed. The moral of the story is that I have 1 plasma cutter with 2 different torches for all of my cutting needs and not multiple machines. This was my cheapest way out. Hope this helps in making a decision for you. Good luck!

Okay, I’m a little simple-minded. So does that mean that I should buy another machine torch? Seriously I’m not stupid I didn’t understand what you said that

I read what you wrote and literally heard crickets in my head

Thank you so much sir. That was a great confidence builder in buying the hypertherm 65. I have heard lots of good things about them.

Please forgive me for my comments earlier. I am totally new to any kind of form text excetera excetera. I was reading what was in the email and thought that’s all you had said… LOL I just read the whole comment so sorry I’m an idiot  welcome to the 21st century. I I have never been on a foreman my life.

It only gave me like the last two lines of your message when I read the email. I am laughing so hard right now. I am such an idiot

I’ve actually never changed my torch out is it very difficult? Or time-consuming? And also does anyone know if the hypertherm 65 can run both the machine torch and the Hand torch the same time?

The torch on the hypertherm is super easy, push a button & pull it out, then stick the other in. I don’t know if you have to pull the CPC connector too, maybe, but that’s a quick twist lock on the back.

You can only run one torch at a time, but it took me maybe 30 seconds to swap from machine to hand torch with unplugging the CPC connector just 'cuz I wasn’t sure.

Thank you so much sir I will order a hypertherm then sounds like the way to go. I will sell my truck master 42.

I should have mentioned that to be truly plug & play you need to order the hypertherm cable and machine mount torch from Langmuir.
