Brand new to the cnc plasma world

Good morning, I’m looking at getting the CrossFire pro as a 1st machine. Is the razor weld 45 CNC Plasma cutter with the machine head on it good to start with or is it worth the extra money to invest in a machine like the PowerPlasma 102i & PTM-100? Maily a getting it as a hobby machine, with the possibility to expand into a small business. Thank you for your time!

@Project_Pat welcome to The forum.

What kind of work do you plan on doing?

Unless you need 100% duty cycles or you’re cutting thick material often you could probably get away with a Everlast 62i or a Primeweld cut60.

Agree but just to add the Razor is a capable machine for work in its range. But if you later want to expand into thicker materials, I would certainly spend a bit more now for a some extra power.

I went from the Razor to Prime weld to 105 sync. I had no issues with any of them but as time progressed I needed more and more power and more duty cycle for 8x4 sheets of 3/4 steel.

Some 4x4 fabrication and some brackets for larger timber framing and who knows what else. Ive got so many ideas lol. I don’ see anything over half an inch. Its going to be a see how it goes and where my imagination takes it.

I have a RW45 and it works well up to 1/4”. anything over that and edge quality starts to go away.

with that said, I have never spent the time to really dial in anything thicker then 1/4”

1/2” would be its limit in my book, and even that may be past it capabilities.

I have had mine for 3 years and no problems, other than having to turn the Air regulator all the way up that is on the inside. I then added a 2nd reg outside the RW and adjust pressure with that.

I also upgraded to a Hypertherm torch
