Best water treatment

Need a recommendation on the best anti corrosion and anti fungal water treatment for my new Crossfire XR. Thanks.

I use Sterling Cool. Is it the “Best”? It seems to work really good, I have nothing to compare it to. I’m relatively new and it’s the only stuff I have used.

Thank you. Terry

All i’ve done for the last 2 years is occasionally throw in a couple cups of Borax. It doesn’t need much at all. No need, in my experience, to spend any money of fancy chemicals.

I do the same as @NiceCustomGoods.

I also drain it quite regularly.

That though, may not be a good option if water is scarce where you are at.

Sterling Cool. Just bite the bullet and buy a 5-gal pail. It will last for months.

Cost vs crystal growth and aggravation. Plasma Green or sterling cool. 100 gallons of table water out of one 5 gallon bucket.

I just bought my second 5 gallon this spring (since 05/2023?) Lot of splash, evaporation, and one total system loss due to freeze thaw of plastic fittings over winter). My system is 40 gallons now on my modified PRO water pan.

“months” :grimacing:

I’m still on the original 5gals I bought. I think I’ve made 2 or 3 batches of table water total. Put a good filter system on the run down to your sump and it will last a very long time.

I drain mine into a tank. Lasts a long time.

I’ve been on the same 5 gallon jug of plasma green for almost three years. When your table water evaporates you can just add water because the plasma green chemicals don’t evaporate. Only time I ever use new solution is when I do a complete cleanout of the table. Stuff works great. No idea if it’s the best but I like it.
