Just got some of these Grinding discs and love them. The best discs for removing Dross and Mill Scale I have ever found !!! $ 31.00 for a Trail 5 Pack of them.. They do not plug up like traditional Hard Discs or Flap Discs they just cut thru everything !!!
My new tool, an air needle scaler, for dross is this from Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Powermate-Pistol-Type-Air-Needle-Scaler-024-0299CT/206339128
They do work great, but vinegar works even better with far less work. You do have to be able to sacrifice 24 hours of soak time.
I use this too and it works great. I just use regular kitchen vinegar which is what like 5%. Have you tried the higher strength vinegars they sell at hardware stores for faster times? Been curious about it.
This is expensive @ $87. This thing is terrific. It is made of heavy stainless steel and tool steel. I have had mine for a year or so and am still on the original blade.

Hey, if it works!
I’ve never removed mill scale off anything I cut, bend, and/or weld with the exception of a TIG job.
Yes, I use the 30% and then cut it to 10% for most stuff. Works great. Just had three plates sitting overnight. Came out looking like the shiniest metal you’ve ever seen. Any dross that was still there fell off with a simple wipe. Love it because it takes zero effort from me. I just rinse in water after I take it out of the vinegar bath. No need for baking soda to “stop” the acid.
Thanks for the responses. Gonna move up my game.
