Basic Guidance for Clean Cuts

My Setup:
Crossfire Table with water table and Torch Height Control
Razorweld 45 CNC Plasma Cutter with X45 hand torch
Razorweld 45 consumables
Husky 30 Gal. 175 PSI Air Compressor

My primary goal is to cut 14 & 16GA cold or hot rolled steel signs.

I have been working with this table now for about three months. I’m doing OK but I’m just not always happy with the quality of the cuts I’m making. I have tried tweaking every setting possible. I always have more dross than I think I should. And my in & outs are always a bit rough. I have searched through the forum to try to find answers, but there is just too much info for me to get a clear answer.

I assume there are many of you out there with very similar setups and cutting very similar metal. If this is you, can you tell what your settings are…

I run my machine at 50 amps for most things. This chart is a good strategy.
Cut height .062
Pierce height .12
Delay .7 to .5 depending
IPM by the chart.
Ensure your consumables are good. Send us pictures of them so we can give you advice
I realize your machine can only go to 45 amps.
My point is, pick a power setting and tweak it from there.
One more thing that it super important. Make sure you have 70 psi at the plasma cutter THE ENTIRE TIME. very important.
