Assembly problems/tips

Any one run into problems putting the material supports together and installing on the rail?

Did your linear bearings have a grease plug and 2 Phillips screws holding the wiper seal in place?

Unfortunately it is a known issue that affects some but not all assemblies. Your best bet is to either remove the plug and put a dab of grease in the hole to seal it, or install a set screw. See below snippet from the assembly manual:

Sam sent me a pic of that same thing. Problem is my bearing was not the same as the pic.
I will try and post a pic tomorrow

I also ran into the Brake for the material support. One of them had the pocket machined to shallow and when installed put a lot of drag on the arm when trying to roll side to side. I had to cut about .015 - .020
then it worked like perfect.
I also found the holes were not tapped all the way to the bottom on some of the holes for the M4 socket head screws.

Damit, man, you are having a bad time with this. Hopefully, they will get these problems fixed quickly. I guess I was lucky to have mine already put together. I believe they use mine for the final software testing before shipment.

It was all little stuff that added up. It would have been easier if I had a bottoming tap but I did not.
I was lucky I had a way to cut the groove deeper in the brake part.

starting on the back gauge today! wish me luck.

I hope me posting, helps LM find some problems before others with less patience then I do, get going on here with their rants :grimacing:

Ok any
One want to look on page 87 of the assy instructions and tell me what E1 means in terms I can understand stand?
So does the small end of the wedge clamp go towards the back gage finger? Or the opposite?

If you send me a picture of the part I will see if I can identify it on my machine in the morning. I really sorry you are having a hard time with this. Hopefully @langmuir-daniel or @langmuir-sam will chime in here to help you.

I will try and get a pic of it. I think I have it correctly, as it makes no sense why you would put it the other way. But sometimes things make sense after someone tells me their reasoning! :grinning:

So I have the tapered wedge clamps positioned so the taper is the opposite of the mounting taper.

Im 99% sure that is correct

I will check it out in the morning. I could drive to work if you really need to know. Let me know.

Absolutely not it’s not that big a deal

Here are some pictures of it assembled.

Let me know if you need different pictures.

Thanks Bigdaddy for the assistance - we’ll adjust our assembly guide to clear that up in the future. The slight taper on the finger and counter-taper on the wedge clamp can be hard to spot. Basically one is there to counter the other so the screws can sit on the top flat.

Obviously its an easy fix. The point is it’s bad quality and Langmuir need to be aware of if so it can be corrected.
