I need to remove about 1/2 to 1 inch all the way around the outside of this. The black is the metal, white is cut out. Is there an easy way to do it?
I have googled it but not finding what i need. thanks Becky
click on the node tool, then select the top 2-3 nodes from the top of the black box and move them down to desired length then select the right 2-3 nodes and do the same for the rest of the sides. i don’t think there’s a crop function in inkscape that I’ve found.
that worked, thanks!
The most accurate way would be to draw a box the width that you want to remove and taller/wider than the box and convert it to a path. Make duplicates for each side you want to cut. Drag the box over and snap it to the cusp node on one corner of the piece. Select both the box and your drawing and go to Path-Difference. Do that for each side of the piece.
When i finished the above method i had to square it back up and did it this way. thanks
well that was way to easy!!! thanks
I’m trying to add a tab to this letter and it still loos wrong. It is grouped because it does not move. it is a path. I’m not sure how else to check it. Thanks Becky
Nope still have something wrong! I need to go back to Inkscape and fix the tab. any help would be greatly appreciated.
You need to select both paths (the background and the new tab on the ‘O’) and then use Path->Combine. This will combine the two paths into one.
Select both the bridge and the larger object and go to Path-Union.
thank you!
i did try this but it did not work. I must be doing it wrong, i can try again.
Check the status of the rectangle. If it’s a ‘rectangle’, rather than a ‘path’ you need to convert it to ‘path’ first. THEN COmbine or Union…
thank you! I finally got it!
well if this isnt a mess! I have no idea why the simulation in sheetcam did not cut out the M.
I also see that lots of cuts are to small to cut.
I think i will go back to square one and start over.
If you have not checked out this guy’s YouTube channel yet, do it. He has some great Inkscape videos. I was having some similar problems and all of them make sense now He also has
a Facebook group that is pretty active if you are a Facebook kind of person
