Air dryer requirements

Sorry for being vague. It’s the temp sensor.

When I get to the checkout, it says that it can’t be shipped to my address. I’ve bought hundreds of things off of Amazon and never had that message. I tried several different times and same results.

I noticed the vendor was in Canada, so I thought maybe it was some kind of import restriction in play.

I am hoping I have everything in place now to get my Dry Air merit badge! Pretty excited to see if I get results.

I know there is debate about the order to place each component, but right now I have: post tank filter and regulator; A/T cooler w/temp activated fan; copper drip loop system; HF refrigerated dryer; filter; dessicant bead canister; small filter on the back of cutter.

I haven’t cut yet with the refrigerated unit attached. With all the other components in place, the only moisture I could actually see being removed was a small amount from my first drip leg and by my dessicant beads. Moisture was still reaching the beads and turning them pink faster than I’d hoped, so I bought the HF unit.

BTW, the HF unit arrived undamaged. I know some folks have noted damage due to inadequate packaging. Guess I got lucky.

AT cooler frame isn’t pretty, but I always try to use scrap metal first when function is fine without form :grinning:

I located my thermocouple on the inlet line to the A/T cooler. I know others put it on compressor outlet, but I figured there are times I use compressor for other duties (bypassing dryer) and also it is running often when there is no downstream demand, such as after a cut finishes. Just my take on it.

You will remove quite a bit of moisture with that setup. I have a very similar setup no copper cooler I have two trans coolers though … even with all that your beads will catch moisture. I am amazed at how quick mine change.

I have been cutting a few nests with 41 minutes of arc time per nest. My beads are ready to change when 8 am done.

You betcha!!! Looks great. Most people put a Keurig coffee maker right after the copper drip loop system. But I think your system will work fine without it.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I was having to change them too often, but your reply lets me know it’s probably just an unrealistic expectation/lack of experience thinking that they would last longer.

I bought one of the 8 pound containers of beads off Amazon and plan to dry some every so often.

BTW, I tried putting a cup or so of them in the microwave once. As long as they are in a single layer, they change back/dry in less than 5 minutes. I know common wisdom is oven for several hours but I couldn’t resist a trial.

Thanks man. I am hoping soon I’ll actually feel like I know what I’m doing with this CAM process. I’m about 6-8 months in and sometimes still feel like I am getting my gear out of the car at the base4 of Mt Everest.

I still have FireControl freeze issues, but I wanted “my responsibilities” completely addressed before I open a ticket with Langmuir. I am about ready to go. My issues are less severe than Casey had. My cutter almost always continues to cut, but all my controls and display freezes until the program is complete plus about 5-10 seconds.

IT really depends on where you live as to how quick they change. Be careful baking I was thinking 20 min in a oven. You can over bake them then they are trash.

I am sorry to hear that. You have been successful cutting some really nice things. But I know what you mean about

I have some cut quality issues and have not done anything to address that water until recently. Now I have been too busy to fire up the machine and really dial it in and see if they are gone.

Casey who??? You know they grow up so fast and leave home!!!:slightly_smiling_face:
Edit: Hopefully Casey is doing well. Maybe even making some money.
Edit2: Just went on his YouTube website. Most recent posting was two months ago. I left a message to say “We, on the Langmuir Forum” were wondering how things were going. I will edit again if I get a response."

He did seem to disappear. I hope he’s just cutting non-stop and no time for posting.

I was hoping for an update from Casey too.
