62i issues stuck on Pierce voltage

Running a crossfire pro, with a 62i unit and original hand torch. The plasmadyne machine torch has been a mistake so back to the hand torch. “The hand torch has worked fine with better results by far than the machine torch I do not believe that the torch is the problem” The issue I’m having now is the power output, when it pierces the display says 23 volts then normally registers whatever I have it set to normally 60. It fires at the Pierce height then drops down the cut height. Starts traveling but it stays on 23 volts and it’s not cuting through. Has anybody experienced this? I’ve tried it from 30 amps all the way up to 60 and in between, change out consumables completely made sure the barrel’s not being obstructed that the electrode moves up and down freely. Fire controls updated to current air pressure is correct. I tried a different 220 plug in my shop. Not sure why it’s not switching over to full power? Sorry for the spelling and grammar. I know my English gives some of you headaches so feel free to tell me all about it. Thanks!

When you say you have it set to pierce voltage and cut voltage…that’s not a thing.

If the 23 and 60 volts you are mentioning is the FireControl THC voltage, that is really low unless you are cutting 14ga or thinner.

OR - do you mean amps, not volts. 23a or 60a on the panel of the cutter?

Is the 62i a dual voltage cutter? 120 or 240?

He’s mixing up amps and volts. The display on Everlast machines shows the amps that you have set for the cutting power. During the pilot arc, it displays 23 amps and then goes back to the set amperage when it transfers to the cutting arc. For some reason, his machine is not transferring from pilot arc to cutting arc.

OK. Thank you @ds690 for the explanation. I will defer to the Everlast owners here.

You need to make sure the work clamp cable is tight at the plasma cutter and it is clamped on good clean metal or the arc will not transfer from pilot arc to cutting arc.

Thank you George I will cut the end of and refasten it to the clam. I cleaned the work pice and the clamp face , 36 grit on the work pice and the wire wheel on my bench grinder for the face of the clamp and it was still malfunctioning. Pulled the boot back on the dinse plug it looks good . I will let you know thank you for the consumables.
