3/8” plate cut speed

Ok I can’t seem to find anything on speeds for 3/8” steel plate, does anyone have anything? Almost forgot, using the Razorweld 45

I ll throw a guess out.

45amp (maxed ) and 15 ipm.( feed opt holes to 8 ipm ) 1.8sec pierce delay .06 cut height .18 pierce height

watch your duty cycle you will likely need pauses in your program.

Good ‘guess’. Add MAX AIR pressure.

Appreciate the feedback

Make sure your water pan is full… I learned the hard way. Slow cut speed will blow the water out from under the plate and screw up your pan.

That’s about what I use for 3/8 with the RW, only I cut it at 20 IPM.

I always have it almost to the top but good reminder

Thanks for the info

I cut hot rolled mild steel and AR500 3/8 inch plate at 26 ipm. 1.8sec pierce delay, 45A, machine torch, Crossfire pro, Razorweld 45 CNC.

I cut a lot of 3/8 inch plate.

Well here’s the finished part. Thanks for all input, did a couple samples and adjusted as needed. Had some hanger kerf but came right off. In case you’re wondering what it’s for, it’s a spring hanger for a rear transverse spring on the rear axle of my hotrod

I remember the part from a few months back.

What settings did you end up using to achieve the cut in the picture?

feed rate 15 ipm
pierce delay 1.6
pierce height .16
cut height .06
It didn’t like the 1.8 or the .16 apparently as it stopped it right off the bat

actually it’s a different part but for the same project

When I was looking at your pictures my eyes were drawn to this.

What do you have going on here?

Well I believe I was using my pen plotter as to exactly what I was doing the circles for I really don’t remember. The pen plotter has been a huge assist especially when making brackets as I can plot the part on poster board, cut it out and see if it’s exactly what I want before cutting out of steel

These settings worked great. only thing I’ll add is to make sure that you are using a 90 degree lead in/out and also no radius to it. I had a radius and a 60 degree lead in/out and it didnt cut the last 1/8". It said it lost cuttting voltage so I switched to the 90 and no radius and it worked fine.
