I assembled my crossfire Pro and hooked up a brand new razor weld 45. I’ve gotten to the part where it will fire the torch manually, but I get nothing for torch height control. Doesn’t recognize anything. I am at the troubleshooting tree where I am testing the 2 pin CNC port and I get 0 V with my multimeter. Being that this is ordered from Langmuir, do I return? Are there other tests I can run? I am running a straight cut test with the CNC port unplugged from the DVI box and testing the barrel plug.
Additionally when I try to manually cut it will cut the first hole, raise up and continue firing but will be at the top of its travel so it’s not cutting anything.
I also have a machine head torch mount on the way but running the machine torch in a hand torch mount can’t cause this right?
If you are getting 0v while the torch is firing, when measuring at the port on the machine you’re either measuring the wrong pins or something is very wrong with the cutter.
Do not mount a machine torch in a handheld torch mount. That will cause problems for sure.
If it’s firing when commanded from Firecontrol, the ports are not reversed.
OP - is the torch firing when you press the torch fire button in Firecontrol?
Are you measuring the voltage with the torch firing?
It will always show zero when the torch is not firing.
Update. It does fire the torch manually. And I did get within range voltages when firing.
I downloaded firecontrol on my windows laptop, was using my Mac. Now it recognizes voltage when I run a THC test but still won’t run THC. If I disconnect from THC in fire control and run a cut ready program from fire share it cuts the first cut then raises to the top of its limit and tries to continue to cut but is too high
Let’s define some terms here,
-THC is just a chip on the board that controls the torch height based on voltage. This only happens during a cut loop and it’s not responsible for probing the torch down to determine the Z zero.
-
The Z axis is what actually moves the torch up and down. It is not the THC.
-
IHS is what probes the torch down to the metal and sets the Z zero that the torch height and pierce height are calculated from.
We would have to see the g-code that you are using to see what the problem is.
There are programs in Fireshare that do not have IHS commands, because they are for machines that do not have a Z axis.
Ok sorry for the delay I needed to order a machine torch holder.
I get 0.0v when testing in testing voltage in the THC test, live voltage is 125-130v.
I downloaded “6 inch pipe caps v2” off fireshare that says it is cut ready for firecontrol [IHS/THC]. Downloaded as-is. The program runs but there is no Z movement.
I have yet to see any lights (active, down, ok, up) on THC in Firecontrol.
What am I missing?
THC voltage should be 0.0 when the torch is not on.
125-130 volts is in the normal range for live voltage (torch firing)
Does your Z axis move if you press the Z axis up/down button in Firecontrol?
If it doesn’t move, do you hear/see the motor shaft spinning?
If the motor spins, but the Z axis doesn’t move, the coupler between the motor shaft and lead screw is loose.
Went into the help menu on firecontrol, updated firmware and it looks like I’m in business! Thanks all!
