I had previously installed mach 3 and I am certain I am selecting the correct profile. ( CrossFire Mach3 Profile (v1.1)
I am able to jog the machine.
I have attached T connectors inside my plasma cutter. I have tested continuity and verified that the torch is firing with plasma cutter torch button,
I also removed the torch firing cable from the lanmuir electronics control enclosure and have verified that the torch fires when completing a circuit across the end of the torch firing cable.
when I attempt to press the torch on button in mach I note that mach goes to dwell…
troubleshooting indicates that PERHAPS? “Electrical relay inside CrossFireTM electronics enclosure is malfunctioning.”
i believe I have checked all the items in the troubleshooting section EXCEPT the section that mentions a possibility of a bad relay? canother tests can be performed to verify this?
Just want to make sure that you have also installed the mach 3 motion control plugin that’s available on our downloads page.
When you press the torch on/off button in mach 3, you should see the yellow bar above it start to flash. When you click the torch on/off button again the yellow bar should stop flashing and the ‘Dwell’ button will highlight for approximately 1 second.
Can you confirm that this is what is happening?
Also, if you have a suitable multi-meter, consider removing the torch fire cable and checking for continuity on the female torch fire plug on the electronics box when the torch is commanded to fire.
Lastly, each electronics box is extensively tested and one of the tests is making sure that the relay can fire a torch 3 times. It is possible that something has failed between that test and now, but it is likely something else going on. The relays are very robust.
yes, I have verified this, and I was under the assuption that if I had motion control, I should also have control of the torch
when I press torch on off button I see NO YELLOW BAR… however the dwell button does flash.
as for this suggestion… I do have a multimeter… and removed the electronics enclosure cover, using the orange and purple wires I checked to see if I could get continuity when I attempted to press the torch on off button… with NO success… It does not appear that the computer is telling the unit to turn on the torch, however I can not identify why!!!
Also, if you have a suitable multi-meter, consider removing the torch fire cable and checking for continuity on the female torch fire plug on the electronics box when the torch is commanded to fire.
Interesting, not sure why you arent able to get a flashing yellow bar when you command the torch to fire.
Try this with the plasma cutter off: Press Alt+ 2 to open up the ‘MDI’ tab. Then type ‘M3’ in the input text box, then press enter. You should see the yellow box flash in this screen signifying that the torch is commanded to fire.
tried…from mdi m3 results in NOTHING but a briefly flashing dwell button…
fwiw… i have owned mach3 for several years… and is fully licensed to me and is NOT a demo version…
The torch on/off button will still work and the yellow bar will still flash even without the laptop connected to the CrossFire. Can you disconnect the USB cable and try that? You will get a warning that the RnR motion control plugin is not found but just ignore that and hit reset. If the yellow bar doesn’t flash when you hit the torch on button, then I would recommend reinstalling the CrossFire profile.
attempted to disconnect the usb and test same result… I did see the RnR motion warning however I still DO NOT get a yellow bar flashing, rather I get a simple flash of the dwell button. I also reinstalled the crossfire profile and attempted again… with no success…
@mryeagle Can you please post a screenshot of your Spindle Setup screen (Config>Ports and Pins > Spindle Setup) as well as your Output Signals screen (Config >Ports and Pins> Output Signals) in Mach3.
Please also post a screenshot of your General Config settings.
sorry I never replied… basically my mach 3 install fails to save my settings…
i have found that specifically IN ports and pins… THE SPINDLE SETUP TAB… Relay controls goes from active (not checked) to inactive (checked) and THE OUTPUTS i Specify (output 1 for cw and output 1 for ccw dont “stick” and seem to CHANGE when I open or close mach…
i have been dealing with this by simply changing the setting when I use the machine.
