Software crashes or interference from plasma cutter EMI can be a costly problem if you loose the work zero points. I’ve started piercing a hole at my work zero by lowing the Z axis and using the torch on function in Firecontrol. Makes it simple to line up the zero location on work piece.

I had previously read about the single pierce but I thought I would need to include it in my machine code……didn’t realize it would be as simple as manually triggering plasma through fire control.!!! Sometimes….it’s the most simplistic solutions that relied me!! Thanks for the tip
FireControl
As long as you have your workpiece still square with the reference point. Do you have a side stop to index off of? I have a piece of angle bar bolted to my table for this purpose
Every piece I cut may not have a starting point at one corner of the table. If I’m cutting in the middle of a piece of metal that has other cuts in it, my zero point is where my cut will fit.
Yes I have a guide on one side.
I use my material similarly. That’s why this concept is so helpful to me.
