Sure has been quiet in here lately! Where is everyone?

Braising? I dont think I know what that is. I just use a propane torch

Brassing is when you heat the piece up to just before it turns a dull red, then you use a brass wire brush or wheel in that area. It will leave a thin coating of brass on the metal, which gives a nice gold look to the piece, it will also tarnish just like brass would. You need to make sure that it is a real brass wire when or wire brush not a steel one that has been brass coated.

Here are some pictures of a display piece I made (it does not function) where I brassed parts of the barrel, and the gears on the handle. All parts were cut on my crossfire.

Nice are you clear coating to keep the tarnish down ?

Once I got my desired look I used air tool oil to stop it from tarnishing more. For other projects I have used a clear coat.

Made a firepit, the bottom is 3/16" and the chimney is 11 guage. Still have to make the legs and weld them on.

Doesn’t have anything to do with metal cutting but this explains why I haven’t had any time to cut on the crossfire. But now that this is completed maybe I can get back to cutting.

The tractor looks like my 790.

Nice. Kudos to you on the build/rebuild. Lots of work.

I’m just finishing putting in a new deck - stripping out the old one and installing a new Trex deck before the snow flies. 600 sq ft took me longer than I expected (move from Daylight Savings killed me - lost a bunch of daylight hours over the last month). I install the railing tomorrow and then just little cleanup tasks & trimming before I can move everything back from the yard onto the deck  Then I can play again.

Yes sir, I bought my house at the end of 2001 and bought the 790 4 wheel drive the following spring and it has and is still a good little tractor that has kept 8 acres mowed with a 5 foot finish mower every season since and tilled garden every year with a 5 foot tiller and brought the driveway back to the house with a 5 foot box blade.

I also mow close to 8 acres, with a 6 ft finish mower. 5 ft tiller 5 ft blade, box blade ,brushcutter, 2 bottom plow , 2 row planter for sweet corn. 6 ft disc, and it has a loader. My first one was a 870 without a loader. I love it ,sure saves the back with that loader on it.
