Is there any way to select the cut geometry in a busy drawing without having to select each small cut area? This takes longer than any other part of my designs.

If it’s all close contour geometry. You should be able to extrude the object into a body and use the face contour selection in the 2D profile menu to select everything.
If it’s a mix of open and closed geometry then you may have to select the face contour to select all your closed contour geometry and then individually select all your open contour geometry in another 2D profile because you’ll want to be cutting on the center line and not to left of center.
And my preference for a drawing that consists of both open and closed geometry would be to create a separate sketch for my open geometry and then I could select it as one item in the 2D profile menu by looking over at the left hand browser bar and selecting that sketch from the list.
If you’re talking about actually selecting individual items of geometry on the same plane, you double click your first face contour there is a checkbox for accomplishing this in the 2D profile menu.
