Rule for lead in. Only apply lead in on closed cuts, not open

I hope I stated that correctly in the subject line. What I am looking to do is create a new rule in Sheetcam that will only apply lead ins if the cut is a full/closed cut.

I have some straight line/open cuts on a salmon art piece and the beginning of the straight cuts have a lead in which does not look good and is not necessary.

Does anyone know how to do this or can point me in the right direction. I already did a lot of google searches and learned a lot of new stuff but not how to do this.

Thanks

why don’t you just create a separate toolpath for just the open cuts with no lead-in/offsets.

That’s what I do. Use layers and separate tool paths. For example, if I have holes to cut, I’ll put them in their own layer and define a tool path for that layer with a lead in appropriate to the size hole - usually a perpendicular lead in about 1/2 the size of the hole so it pierces near the center of the hole. For the other paths, I’ll set lead in as desired - arc or whatever makes most sense for a nice cut. For things like bend lines that are open paths - again - own layer and I specify no lead in. Don’t think there’s a way to do what you’re asking in a rule (someone on here may know of a way, but I don’t).

You guys kick butt! I will google “layers sheetcam” and get it done. If I can’t figure it out I will come back and expose my lack of skills some more and get
some free knowledge form you all

Check out the Youtube videos on sheetcam from Arclight Dynamics.

This one is about what you’re looking for (contours and layers):
