I had to do some work on the couplers on my y axis and since then, when I rapid y front or back I hit some spots where it does this hesitation and it looks like something shifts. You can see in the video link when it’s toward the front you can hear the noise and see the shift. If I go back to the back it does it at a different point in the travel. Any ideas for what I can check out?
That’s the using the 123 block and disconnecting the y2 motor and running the x back and forth and adjusting the ball screw?
I did that and everything looked good. I’ll run it again and see where it’s sitting now. I agree with you though. The gantry seems like it’s bound somewhere.
I just wanted to update this for future reference for anybody else that might run into this.
Talking with Langmuir we found it wasn’t the ball screw that was messed up.
One of the lock nuts on the front of the ball screws needed to be backed off 1/8 of a turn. Once I did that the bind went away.
This whole thing started with another problem and me having to adjust the sleeves between the stepper motors and the y 1 and 2 ball screws. So when I did that it must have sucked the lock nuts in tighter to the bearings in the front of the machine. So backing that nut off a little remedied it.
