Learning how to 3D scan

My ship notification shows mine left Hong Kong (via UPS Ground! ) and has a 6-day “drive” to the US… Hope it’s not too badly waterlogged when it gets here.

Here’s my ‘progress’:

09/08/2022 12:02 A.M. Confirmed Arrival
United States
09/06/2022 2:47 P.M. Departure
Hong Kong
09/01/2022 6:42 P.M. Received into UPS possession
Hong Kong
08/29/2022 10:16 P.M. Shipper created a label, UPS has not received the package yet.
United States

Not very encouraging…

@TomWS is yours showing UPS Ground also?

They may not have had a tall enough snorkel and ran into a hydrolock issue…

Yes, UPS Ground, but I think it’s sitting on a rack and drying off somewhere in California for the last 4 days. Only took two days to cross the pond. For me the most frustrating part is the complete lack of ETA. At least then I’d know approximately when it’s going to arrive.

Of course. Like a bowling team. Or in my neck of the woods a curling team.

@toolboy your jacket’s waiting for you over at the revo point Forum site.

The RevoPoint checkout process definitely needs some improvement.

It was unsettling when I first placed my order that there was no email invoice confirming my purchase, just a confimation that I had made a payment to RevoPoint.

Then a lot of radio silence… no indication that anything was happening, or that my order was being processed, or waiting to ship… nothing.

Last week, I suddenly got an email that a UPS tracking number was created. But this was a false alarm… nothing had shipped, it just sat like that for a few days with no available tracking status.

However then next email seemed to indicate that the product had actually left the RevoScan factory and did show an estimated delivery of 6 days. Not sure if that meant 6 days to arrive to my door, or just 6 days to get to the US… but at least it was an estimate of some sort.

At this point, I’m still elbows-deep assembing my CrossFirePRO anyway, so it doesn’t bother me all that much as long as I know that the order is moving along and hasn’t stalled-out somewhere in the process (which does not appear to be the case, yet).

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Spandex allows for ultimate freedom of movement when doing handheld scanner work around complex objects!!!

That… and a good set of warmup stretches before getting started for the day is a winning combination.

Yeah, that was my 8/29 checkpoint. I think we’re at the mercy of US Customs and the current import policy du jour with China.

Not sure if it makes it better or worse, but mine is headed to IL, and not CA as the initial arrival point from Hong Kong.

Could be equally bad… could be worse.

It is an awesome idea.

I Have visited the forums but i haven’t made a account.I will eventually when i get to playing with the scanner more.

Don’t let experience stop you… I don’t even have a scanner (yet) and I’m making a fool of myself over there all the time.

Even got the “New Member of the Month” award already… LOL

It’s just about time for me to bust out the pink spandex and cape and really introduce myself properly!!

The latest from Revopoint Customer Support, on my Mini, which UPS has “confirmed Arrival in US” since Sept 8, is:

“We have a bunch of packages showing like this, no worries, we have contacted UPS, and the tracking info will be updated this weekend.”

I contacted Revopoint customer support yesterday and someone got back to me within an hour telling me someone in China would be back to me by this morning. Pretty good response from a China based company.

UPS was less than useless and wouldn’t tell me anything about the shipment’s ETA because ‘I’ wasn’t the shipper

Mine Package did the DHL to Canada Post hand off and it was delivered with no issues.

I’ve have only deal with directly ordering thing from china a couple time and they have been great experiences.

I order my Cell phone from Hongkong 2 years ago and that was also a great experience.

this likely the next phone ill buy from them.

I hope you have your product in hand soon. waiting gets old quick.

I’m running out of runway. We’re heading back to NC on the 27th. :grimacing:

For something that I ‘bought’ in May (Kickstarter ended the end of July), this is nerve racking.

retried the ammonite scan with the mini, it was the first scan I did with the pop2.

the results are much sharper with the mini.

Also the first scan with using the turntable as a standalone.

Thank -@X3msnake on the Revopoint forum for figuring this out!

I’m surprised the orange color of the fossil worked. I thought I had read that the reds, orange, and yellows didn’t show up because of the blue light being absorbed.

Didn’t you have a basic turntable you could use?
