Just bought the OG table suited all the way out!

So what software do i need, how much is it going to cost me?? I’m new to the plasma table business, been a welder fabricator for the last 12 years and us plasma cuttters quite frequently. The table tool wise doesnt intimidate me, i need to know what i need to download to my computer and how to run with it. Any advice would be much appreciated, Thanks!!

Congratulations on your table purchase and welcome to the forums.

So when you say “a OG table suited all the way out” does that mean a crossfire with an XL kit and THC?

Any kind of design software that will make a SVG or a DXF is appropriate.

Some favorites for are.

Inkscape(free)

Infinity designer(?)

Fusion 360 (free hobbyist version)

And the two pieces of Cam software you can use are.

SheetCAM (140)

Fusion 360 (Free hobbyist version)

What kind of plasma cutter will you use?

Welcome to the forum. As @TinWhisperer pointed it’s important to know which generation CrossFire you have if we’re going to provide any help. However, this will ONLY affect which post processor you need for your system. A post processor works with your CAM tool to generate the final instructions for your system.

The input to your CAM Tool comes from your Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool. This can be any number of programs and, which one is right for you, depends on what you want to do.

You want to make signs or yard art? I recommend you start with Inkscape. It’s free and relatively easy to learn. However, you’ll need a separate CAM tool, and SheetCam is the only reasonable one to use with this approach ($140USD through Langmuir Systems)

You want to do some serious sheet metal work work with lots of bends or multiple parts that need to fit together? I recommend Fusion 360. If you’re a hobbyist, it’s free. If you want to make money with the designs it produces it costs some money. But it has some CAM functions built in (the free version is limited, the pay-for version is not).

There are more choices, but these are the most common.

I’ve been using librecad for brackets and such to pretty fair effect for the CAD, then follow up with sheetcam for the CAM.
