Hypertherm 45XP wiring

My CrossFire hasn’t showed up yet, but I’m a bit confused about the Hypertherm connection. I have the CPC port on my 45XP already - I bought a 25’ machine torch specifically for the CrossFire so I don’t need to tie up my hand torch. What I am wondering is if I need to do any “hacking” of wires, or am I supposed to be using a cable between the CPC port and the CrossFire so there’s no cutting \ splicing etc…?

No hacking of the wires with the machine torch. The crossfire interface cable just will need to be plugged into pins 3 and 4 of the cpc port.

I did this for my HT45xp. The diagram for the pins is in the Manual and I used the link on this forum to purchase the plug and pins. Nice setup and cheap. Also, do not have to mess with insides of unit and makes it portable if you want to use a hand torch later. You can buy connector direct from Hypertherm for 95.00 or make yourself. There is a thread somewhere with link to buy connector and pins. Company was Allied and cost was less than 10.00

I use this exact setup. My machine came with a remote pendant that plugs into the cpc port. It had a rocker switch for remote firing of the machine torch. I got rid of the switch and wired the two wires from the switch to the cable from the CrossFire. Works great, costs nothing.

To clarify, you’re talking about your Hypertherm machine came with the pendant?

you have to order it that way. I have another plasma cutter for hand work and only use the HT for the table so I did not order the pendant.

I’d recommend just buying the parts and making yourself a new cable. It’s easy and cheap. That pendant is like $185. If you’ll never need it I guess altering it isn’t a big deal.

The CPC plug that will plug into the back of your machine is:

The back half of that plug is:

The crimp on pins are:

I think my order for those parts was $16 shipped.

Either use the torch fire cord that Langmiur included with the Crossfire, or you can make a new one with 18AWG 2 core conductor wire and a 5.5mmx2.1mm DC plug. Amazon search DC5521 and it’ll probably pop up. I ended up making a longer 25ft cord. Looking at the back of the plug, the pins are numbered. Use #3 and #4 and the polarity doesn’t matter as all it does is close the circuit.

Yes. Hypertherm part number 128650 was included with my purchase of 45xp with machine torch.
