Expanding to 2x4

Started mounting the rail.

Just put 3 screws in for now, to make sure everything will work right. No sense doing all 10 to find out it doesn’t work.

Started work on the brackets for the linear slide. I am remaking it because its taller than it needs to be.

The bracket will be a S shape. It has to be offset because this whole thing was an afterthought and if it wasn’t offset the slide would run off the track.

Looking great!
Just waiting for the 1500 mm rail to get back in stock on ebay.

This is how I did mine simple, but works… just a shim change at the bottom of the rail to adjust. I left a 1mm gap at the bottom, so nominal is 1mm, adjust up or down from there with a shim change. No problem running the table at all, no drag. I still have to radius the outside corner, but thats just for looks… Also, I did run a dial indicator along the whole slide rail, it’s within .010" across the full travel.

I do powder coating, I agree powder would be better

what gauge 2x2 and what where your lengths?

Is there any chance you would be able to share the lengths of the tubes with me please? I’m going to extend mine just like you did I like the way did this. I’m trying to figure out how much steel I need to buy from my supplier. If you would be able to measure the tube lengths for the frame and leg lengths I would really appreciate it! Or even if you’re willing to share your cad drawing of it that would be even easier. I really appreciate it man. How has it been holding up? Are you glad you went this route?
