Divots On Inside Corners

I’m getting a small divot on inside 90 deg corners and some burn through on some tabs I added in sheetcam. Also not sure if it’s at the start of stop of the cut but getting some divots there as well.

Over all the cut quality is good and these are not terrible but definitely taking away some material in thinner areas like it’s getting a bit hot. I have move the settings around a bit searching for the best overall result. In the beginning I was cutting around 80-120 IMP but I was getting a lot of dross. Now I am cutting at 160 IMP, 33-35 amps.

Inkscape, Shetcam
Primeweld CUT60
14ga hot rolled
35 amps
60psi
160 IPM
Arc lead in, .060 I think
No lead out.
40 Amp Consumables, supposed to be the good one’s from a member here.
No THC

It seemed fast to me at first but the dross is much less at this speed. I’ve barely got through my first full sheet so I am very much a novice. Any advise on where to start making adjustments is greatly appreciated.

Also I’m curious about consumables life. My torch started pulsing on a off and would not stop, then stopped making an arc. I changed out the parts and now it’s fine but like I said I’ve cut only one 4x8 sheet. Is this normal life, what to expect?

Thanks for any help!

14Ga
160 ipm!
Only 60 psi?
Again I don’t use a primeweld cutter
But I’ve not cut anything at those speeds.

14Ga
RAZORWELD CUT 45 OG cutter
Ptm60 torch
.9 tip
34A
75 -75 ipm
80 psi
CLEAN DRY AIR!!
Anti spatter on the tips ALWAYS
.062 CH
.8 PD
3/4” water height from the material
HR Sheet

No dross to speak of and no bevel

Ok, looks like my psi and IPM settings need some adjusting.

First I will pick up some anti spatter, never tried that. Not sure what the tip size is I just know they are labeled 40A.

My air supply is good, drops, desiccant filter, other components, very dry here in the desert anyway, usually below 15-20%.

I have a fresh sheet of 14ga CR to try next.

Thanks for your time!

yeah the ipm is quite high for 14gauge with a cut60. i use around 100 ipm for 14 and 110-120 (close to book settings) for 16g on the cut60 with .9 tip (40amp max)

lead in looks to be way short as well. i use .2 on most things i cut.

For what it is worth for 14 ga CRS or HRS

Hypertherm 30XP at 26 amps
Air 90 psi (HT XP regulates down internally to 76psi I think)
Desiccant dryer
110 IPM
500ms pierce delay
Standard tip (with drag points ground off) or fine cut
.060 in pierce height
.060 in cut height
100 IPM plunge speed

Zero Dross, kerf .040 in, no discernible bevel

In11 Ga & 14 Ga no bevel no dross
PTM60 machine torch
Original 1st run RAZORWELD CUT45
Even holes are Within .001”
Measured @ 4 pts
It always cut well with the stock hand torch but always had slight bevel
The machine torch put the cuts on a whole new upper level.

What’s the issue?

Down to 80 IPM and 80 psi, cutting nicely!

I have another issue now with the CUT-60 :slightly_frowning_face:
