My local HF says they replace them for free. I haven’t tested this yet, but I’ve got a dead one I need to bring in.

I bought a couple of these for my shop, and very happy with them. They are inexpensive, good quality, accurate and best of all, there’s a screw that secures the battery cover (all of my other calipers are useless because the battery covers get lost after the first month of use).
