Cutting small hole sizes

Smaller hole sizes, made a y bracket for a mud motor out of 304 stainless…

Outside edges and a half inch slot came out great on it, but when the table and cutter tries to cut the 5/16 holes out, the top side is decent but the angle is pretty severe and the bottom side is much smaller than the needed hole size… am I the only one dealing with this?

Maybe slow down the speed on the smaller holes?

Slow down for those holes, you’ll have to experiment for the right speed. make sure your swirl ring is in properly, on some torches its reversible. but for nice clean holes drill them out afterwards. From the plasma there will always be a little angle. Go to a mill supply and tell them what your doing to get drills not the local hardware you’ll go through them too fast. also I like to use a larger size drill to make a small cone before putting the smaller drill through it’ll help peel away the hard face the plasma leaves that can ruin drills

Ill give it a shot, already running pretty slow, it’s 1/4 stainless and I have it set at 15”/min at 45 amp and getting good cut quality, just those stupid little holes
