FYI, The EasyScribe and others like it are Diamond tipped, not carbide tipped like a scribing tool. I use a spring loaded tip that has a 1/4" shank.

i think carbide would work for most of what i need if for. i mainly want to mark centers for holes i want to drill/ream on the mill. i have a transmission adapter i need to finish that will be in aluminum once i get done with steel mockups and the plasma just isnt accurate enough for alignment dowel pins.
I am cheap too so I am trying this I have a lathe so I will make it fit
