Convert 3d object for 2d cutting

Hi,

New to all this in general. Not sure if this goes in CAM or CAD I’ll move it if someone lets me know.

Trying to figure out best practice but I couldn’t find info on this topic. Lets say i’m building a 3" x 3" cube. As an object in 360 I can rotate it and make sure its what I’m looking for. Now that the object is done.
How do I:

  1. lay out each side as its own 2d object. So instead of a 3d cube its 6 squares
  2. Do I even need to do #1 or is there some kinda “send to printer” features which lays it all out for you?
  3. is there a term for what I’m trying to do (couldnt find anything googling)
